Are you still doing birding trips around the world?

Published: Mon, 01/14/19

I have been sending you a couple of emails over the last couple of days, to try to catch your attention that I am cleaning up in our mailing list. Anyone, who has not opened any of the emails I have sent out the last year will be deleted from the mailing list. This may sound a bit drastic, but we like to send these occasional notes only to those who have interest in reading them.

I am also trying to catch your attention on the fact that Kolibri Expeditions now is not only offering tours in Peru, but also competitive birding itineraries around the world. We are going international with our new offshoot called 7 Wonders Birding concentrating on short tours around the world where a bucket list of Spectacular Birds and Mammals in Spectacular Places is the main focus. You will of course also see other birds for your life list - that is "by-catch" or icing on the cake if you wish.

I have just came back from India having lead the first 7 Wonders Birding trip with birds and tigers, Bharatpur and the Taj Mahal. It was a smashing success, with 4 of the group continuing to Gujarat to see the last remaining refuge of the Asian lion.

These short trips of usually 5-7 days often offer to include extensions before and/or after the core trip with customised focus of more endemics, target birding or more general birding and culture.

Apart from the published tours, there are trips to Spain for Iberian Lynx, amazing raptors and the architectural marvel - the Alhambra in Granada, Guatemala, Tasmania, Kruger National Park in South Africa, Brazil, Borneo, Bhutan and China in process and will be available for booking in the next few days for 2019. For 2020 we will be adding Cambodia, Tuscany, Rome, New Guinea, Mongolia, Sri Lanka, Madagascar, Egypt and Petra, with similar approach.

All existing 7 Wonders Birding tours will also be offered again and dates can be customized on request.  Kolibri Expeditions are still running our regular longer trips in Peru and all of Latin America.

Next week I will be at Space Coast Birding Festival and in late February for the third year in a row, I shall be leading two five day tours back to back to Hokkaido, Japan with Steller's Eagle and Red-crowned Cranes. There are still some vacancies if you are interested. I will travel via Los Angeles and will spend a few days in California after Japan. I hope to be able to give some talks there as well at local birding clubs. Let me know if you have ideas regarding this.

Additionally, I often relate other interesting stories of my other interests inclding running, bio-hacking and my music project in something I have called midweek bullets. I have been laying low with these lately, but want to get them out again as I am training to get under 3 hours on the marathon before I turn 60 (next year) and trying for my recently reunited (after 25 years) rock band Guran Guran to become big in the Swedish music industry.  There are a few things happening on both fronts. My 3:04 marathon in late 2016 shows there is hope for a sub 3, and 260 000 views on YouTube for Guran Guran's Rinkeby and Tensta video is too inspiring not to keep on going.

My goal is to offer a newsletter with a personal touch. I am interested in your feedback.

So, I repeat. , are you still interested in birding trips around the world, and do you want to get my updates?

Saludos

Gunnar
