It was Happy Thanksgivings for Americans yesterday and today is Black Friday. In the global community of today, everyone is getting brainwashed and commercially conditioned to go on a shopping craze. Even if Thanksgivings is still insignificant in Peru or my native Sweden, Black Friday and Cyber Monday is not. Each and every company here will have some special offer. With some hesitation, Kolibri Expeditions aligns. Yes, you will get some fat offers here.
This newsletter contains two news ideas - tiered pricing and fixed departure discounts, a few words regarding new trips uploaded to the Kolibri Expeditions calendar and finally some time limited special offers. Let's jump right in, shall we?
Tiered Priced Tours
I have been talking about tiered pricing before in the newsletter and now it is reality. In essence, on some tours we give options of service level. There are three levels. Kolibri Bootcamp (very basic lodging, dinner not included), Kolibri Pro (the regular standard suitable for most birders) and Marvelous Spatuletail Tours (comfort deluxe with perks). All levels travel and bird together, but stay overnight in different places. Obviously the price varies. The advantage is that groups fill easier this way and a better price can be had for all. We shall add a complete Central Peru trip as well, shortly with a fixed departure in July.Fixed Departure Discount.
We always have been big fans of fixed departures, but not so good in posting these timely so people have a chance to book them. This is changing now. We are posting several of our five day tours as Fixed Departure and several of the longer Tiered Priced tours as well. All tours that are listed as Fixed Departure in the Kolibri Expeditions Tour Calendar have a discount of around $20 per day. Thus a 5 day tour comes with $100 discount. A 10 day tour with $200 discount and so forth.All tours are also annotated with leading guide for each trip. For 2017 guides still need to 100% confirmed, so please double check with us if you are curious. (We are still improving the website, so the Guide Section does not work yet, but will shortly. )
Next week I shall also upload fixed departure dates for 2018 so you can start planning.
Black Friday and Cyber Monday Sales for a Whole Week Nov 25-Dec 2
Yes, I know it will be a few days beyond Cyber Monday, but I shall be too busy in the field with two guides from Birdquest, Dani Lopez and Mark Van Biers, and a party of three more Spaniards at Platforma/Flor de Cafe looking for Scarlet-banded Barbet and a striking new antbird only discovered 3 months ago by Josh Beck. It is one that looks like Ferruginous-backed Antbird from Venezuela. This amazing discovery is bound to hit the birding news during this week so start planning your trip soon.While I am birding over the next days, you can check out the tours you want to join in the Calendar. I should be away from the internet on Nov 28 and 29 completely. Just so you know.
Central Peru before Christmas with 30% off.
In the last newsletter I told you about our two special trips to Central Peru with Carpish/Unchog/Junin and Satipo road and Oxapampa back to back before Christmas. Additionally, $100 of the tour price is donated to the Junin Grebe project and another $100 to the Satipo road Lodge project. Price for the 10 days is only $1554 compared to regular $2220.Price is fixed regardless of number of participants. Payment of the full of amount before Dec 2 to get the discount.

Wow!10 % off on all other Peru trips on the calendar. You can make a fantastic bargain by combining our Cyber Discount and the Fixed Departure discount mentioned above. Pay the discounted price for 5 participants by Dec 2 at the latest. If any of the trips gets less than five people in the end, there will be a surcharge, but you are still paying much less than anyone else joining, so even a small group will be affordable.Look for cheap flights online now as the airlines are having Cyber Monday sales already. You could easily be saving close to $1000 on a two-three week trip. If you want to get away from the Christmas craze, it is harder to find good prices, but not impossible. Leave your home on Dec 12, Dec 24 or 25 and Dec 31, make return flights on Dec 24 or 25, Dec 31 and Jan 8. Prices are often much lower these dates.
