Some news from Gunnar and Kolibri Expeditions

Hi

I am not going to take a lot of your time. Just a few links to check out and a few words.
It has been a busy time for me, both putting together next years tour calendar - that already has many confirmed trips - as well as some guiding recently.

One trip I did with Rick Wright and others on our new budget tour down to the Amazon lowlands of Tambopata was a very pleasant experience. Here are Rick's trip reports.

After this trip 3 of the participants continued on the new Budget trip to Central Peru. Here are Chris West's photo galleries from the trip.

You possibly have to be on Facebook to see the pics.

I also went on a photographic expedition with Hadoram Shirihai last week. Hadoram is in Peru photographing birds for the upcoming project Photographic guide to the birds of the world. He needs to photograph more than 6000 species himself!

If you are interested in seeing Peruvian bird photos check www.birdinperu.com (brough to you by Kolibri Expeditiosn of course) where the photo sections now have comment and like functions, as well as the possibility to sort the photos into departments and specific sites.  It will help the visiting birder to Peru to get an idea what species are possible to see and what they look like.

I was also recently again looking for Long-whiskered Owlet and again I did not see it. But it was an interesting trip. I am summarizing  my attempts this year in this blog post.

Below follows some of the more recent and interesting blogposts. The last post include a contest. Can you identify the birder/blogger? You can win a good prize. The constest is still open - one more day!

Enjoy!

Saludos

The Zen of Birding

2010-09-27 22:16:43-04
Why don't mainstream get it? Why can't they see what I see? Why not make a one hour CBS TV special about the Zen of birding? Birding as a religion or a philosophy. The closeness to nature, the contemplation of being one with nature, the ability to put a name to every living thing you see, the envy of flying ability, etc... Wouldn't that be more mainstream and less dorky?....I wonder!!!

Join the 8000 club for a Lima Pelagic It is not often I find a reason to write a blog post about a pelagic trip, before it actually happens. But on this trip, there is a reason. Some of the participants on this shine more than the birds we will be seeing. There are several [...]
